A RARE residency lets you live and work in a rural European hub — bringing your expertise to communities that are building something new.
RARE residencies offer knowledge workers and creative professionals the chance to experience rural Europe not as a tourist, but as a contributor. Each residency is designed around a specific place, its community, and the skills it needs most.
During your stay you will have access to coworking facilities, local accommodation, community events and a network of fellow remote workers from across Europe.
Each location has its own application form and limited slots per season. The current call closes 31 May 2026.

RARE — Rural Action for Resilient Environments — is a European project focused on reversing rural depopulation by transforming isolated communities into vibrant hubs for work, creativity, and innovation.
Through digital tools, sustainable tourism, and community-driven initiatives, RARE creates opportunities that bring people back to places where they are needed most.

From the hills of Catalonia to the forests of Brandenburg — each location offers reliable internet, a welcoming community, and a genuine desire to grow together.

Centelles
A small town in the Congost valley, shaped by water, geology and time — 50 km from Barcelona. Residencies take place at Can Riu, a space rooted in community experimentation and collective life.

Rolling hills, Kalnik mountain mists, ancient fortresses and family vineyards. One month in two locations with Starlink, sauna and sweeping valley views. June 1–30, 2026.
