The region

Where you
would arrive

The Prigorje region is a landscape shaped by the transition from the rolling hills of the Kalnik mountain range to the fertile plains. Historically, this area flourished as a vital crossroads of trade routes and water — a place where paths crossed and communities grew around sacred points, noble estates and traditional crafts.

The landscape is defined by its "green lungs" — the Kalnik mountain, offering mist-covered peaks and ancient fortresses. Here, life moves to a different rhythm, where the "holy trinity" of identity remains the heights of Kalnik, the historic town cores and the sprawling family vineyards.

You will be stationed in two distinct but deeply connected environments, with free co-living accommodation and a car for use throughout your stay.

Your residency
in two phases

Co-living space in Križevci
Phase 1
Križevci
1 – 15 June 2026

A town built on the reconciliation of noblemen and the crossing of ancient paths. Staying 11 km from the town centre, you'll have the peace of rural nature — a lake within walking distance, forests, e-bikes — while remaining a short car ride from urban services.

Your accommodation is a co-living wooden house with 3 individual beds, an above-ground swimming pool with solar shower, outdoor sauna, gazebo, barbeque and sport courts. High-speed Wi-Fi or co-working space in the Križevci Entrepreneurship Center.

Traditional wooden house in Gornja Rijeka
Phase 2
Gornja Rijeka
15 – 30 June 2026

A peaceful area of scattered hamlets, noble estates and old orchards. You'll stay in a traditional family-run OPG wooden house with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, sauna and hot tub, overlooking the village of Kolarec.

Starlink internet keeps you digitally connected while you enjoy the analogue beauty of village life — lavender fields, Kalnik hiking trails and the heritage festival "Sejem" all await.

FAQ

Frequently asked
questions

Do I have to speak Croatian?
No, but learning a few words and phrases throughout your stay will be appreciated by the community members.
Can I come with a partner or child?
We would like that, but our accommodation has only 3 beds and a couch. We are not sure your partner and/or child would be comfortable with the other two nomads present in the house, just by thinking of space.
How do you get around?
In Križevci you can use electric public buses or taxi. Outside town you'll have an e-bike, bike, or the provided car. Križevci is only 18 km from Gornja Rijeka, and Zagreb is 60 km away.
What if I don't like it?
You can look into other accommodation in the area at your own cost. If you have questions about offered accommodation before applying, contact us at korak@ukorak.hr.
Can I extend my stay?
Yes, but you need to let us know in advance so we can check the availability of accommodation. Extension-related costs are covered by you.
What about digital nomad visas?
Croatia offers a digital nomad visa for non-EU citizens. More info at the Croatian Ministry of Interior website.
