The region

Brandenburg,
just outside Berlin

The residency takes place in Brandenburg, a region characterised by lakes, fields, forests and small villages just outside Berlin. The towns are close enough to remain connected, yet far enough away to offer peace, nature and a different pace of life.

The region is characterised by change, renewal and the repurposing of old buildings. Historic estates and country houses, village structures and open landscapes provide the setting for projects currently working on new forms of community, culture and rural development.

You'll continue working on your own project while getting the chance to explore places undergoing change, make new connections and get involved in ongoing processes. Depending on your profile, your contribution may be in communication, storytelling, social media, web, cultural programming, gardening, construction or day-to-day organisation.

Where you'll stay

One residency,
two options

This is a single four-week residency in Brandenburg. You apply for one stay and indicate your preferred location in the application form. Both locations are part of the same programme and share the same conditions — the difference is the community and setting you'll be immersed in.

Hof Prädikow – aerial farmstead
Option A
Hof Prädikow
Märkische Schweiz · ~35 min to Berlin (bike + S-Bahn)

A large four-sided farmstead where around 75 people live and work together. Think: coworking area, fully equipped woodshop, vegetable garden, café/barn with events, communal meals. A vivid, busy community with lots going on.

Best for: people who want energy, a large community, hands-on projects and a full cultural programme on their doorstep.

Mellow House, Waldsieversdorf
Option B
Mellow House
Waldsieversdorf · 10 min by bike to Müncheberg station

A former YMCA villa being transformed into a communal home by the Mellow Living group. Your own quiet room, fibre-optic internet, shared kitchen, garden and a lake across the road. Smaller, calmer, still collaborative.

Best for: people who prefer a quieter, more intimate setting with a focus on focused work and gentle community rhythm.

Your contribution

Get involved
& shape the place

The residency combines focused work with community, regional insights and the opportunity to contribute to local initiatives. Approximately two hours of collaborative work per day are the common framework — everything else is self-organised.

Your own ideas are expressly welcome, as long as they fit the location and are realistically feasible within a four-week stay. The most valued contribution is to not just use a space, but to help shape it.

Marketing & Digital
Instagram, website work, storytelling, social media content creation.
Events & Culture
Day-to-day support in the barn, café shifts, communal meals, organise an event.
Crafts & Construction
Hands-on workshop projects, building benches, information boards, repairs.
Garden & Nature
Seasonal garden work, herb beds, caring for cattle, outdoor facility maintenance.

Who we're looking for

Preferred
profiles

We are looking for people who can work remotely, organise their daily lives independently, and are open to community, collaboration and hands-on involvement.

We especially welcome individuals with experience in communication, storytelling, social media, video, design, web development or related fields — as these skills can be particularly helpful in raising the profile and further developing these spaces.

Above all, self-organisation, reliability, openness and an interest in not just using a location but helping to shape it are the most important qualities.
